Trials & upgrading
How the 14-day Pro trial works and how to upgrade your organization to Pro or Business.
The 14-day Pro trial
Every new organization starts on Pro automatically — a "reverse trial". You don't sign up for it, and you don't enter a card. From day one you have everything Pro offers: unlimited members and spaces, full history, dashboards and proofing rooms.
While the trial runs, the sidebar shows "Pro trial · N days left" so everyone can see where the organization stands.
The timeline looks like this:
- Day 1 — your organization is created on Pro. No card, nothing to configure.
- About 2 days before the end — the organization owner gets an email that the trial is about to expire. It is sent once.
- Expiry — the organization becomes Free, and the owner gets a second email confirming it.
Nothing is ever deleted when a trial ends. Features and content beyond the Free limits are locked, not removed, and everything comes back the moment you upgrade. See Downgrades & the Free plan for exactly what locks.
How to upgrade
Upgrading takes a few minutes and applies to the whole organization at once — every member with edit access is covered by the same plan across all of the organization's spaces.
- Go to Organization → Settings → Billing. Upgrading is limited to the organization's owner and its admins.
- Pick Pro or Business.
- Choose monthly or annual billing. Annual is selected by default and saves 20%.
- Complete checkout. Checkout runs on Stripe, and the price shown is for your actual seat count — exact seats, no 5-seat increments.
- After paying, you return to the Billing page and the plan updates within seconds.
That's it — there's no waiting period and no manual activation.
Annual vs monthly
Both plans offer the same choice:
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (20% off) |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | $15/user/month | $12/user/month |
| Business | $29/user/month | $23/user/month |
Annual billing is the default selection at checkout. If you'd rather pay month to month, switch the toggle before you check out.
Seat changes prorate to the day on either billing period, so adding or removing members mid-cycle is always charged fairly. See Seats, viewers & guests.
Managing your subscription
After you subscribe, the Manage billing button on the Billing page opens the Stripe customer portal. Use it to:
- Update your payment method.
- Download invoices.
- Cancel the subscription.
One billing identity per owner
If you own several organizations, they all bill to the same Stripe customer — one card, one billing identity. Each organization still has its own separate subscription, so you can put one organization on Business and another on Pro, or cancel one without touching the others.
If you can't manage billing yourself
Billing is limited to the organization's owner and its admins. If you hit a gated feature and can't upgrade yourself, you'll see an "Ask owner to upgrade" button — clicking it emails the owner naming the feature you hit and why, and carries a note if you wrote one. There's no need to chase anyone down in chat.
