Table Board
Build spreadsheet-style trackers with typed columns, colored draggable groups, bulk actions, and ready-made templates.
What a Table Board room is
A Table Board is a database-style tracker: rows organized into colored groups, with typed columns for each piece of information. It covers the work that doesn't fit a card board — sales pipelines, content calendars, inventory, hiring — and because columns have real types (a people column holds actual teammates, a date column holds real dates), grouping, bulk edits, and live dashboards work in ways a spreadsheet can't.
Add a Table Board
- In the space's sidebar, click + and pick the Table Board room type.
- Name the board.
- Set visibility: everyone in the space, or only certain people — useful for boards like hiring trackers.
Start from a template
You rarely need to build from a blank board. Around 78 ready-made board templates cover common trackers — sales pipeline, content calendar, inventory, and many more — and a template seeds the board's columns, groups, and sample rows in one step. Pick the closest match, replace the sample rows with your data, and adjust the structure as you go. Everything a template creates can be changed afterwards.
Structure the board
Groups. Split rows into groups by stage, team, month — whatever dimension organizes the work. Groups are colored and draggable: reorder them, recolor them, and move rows between them as things progress.
Columns. Nine column types are available:
- Text and number for freeform values
- Status for tracking state
- People for assigning owners
- Date for deadlines and schedules
- Tags for flexible labeling
- Checkbox for done/not-done facts
- Dropdown for picking from a fixed list
- Progress for percent-complete tracking
Model each field with the right type instead of putting everything in text — typed columns are what make the rest of the board's features work.
If a column's values are a fixed set ("Small / Medium / Large"), use a dropdown, not text. Consistent values make grouping and reporting reliable.
Work with rows
Add a row, fill its cells, and drag it to the group it belongs in. Assign an owner in the people column so every row shows who's on it, and keep the status column current so the board reads as a live picture of where everything stands.
Bulk actions. When lists get long, select many rows and update them together — reassign, change status, or clean up in one operation instead of editing row by row. Use this when a batch of items moves forward at once, like a group of candidates advancing a stage.
Report on board data
Table Boards feed Dashboard rooms directly. Create a Dashboard in the same space and wire its widgets — stat tiles, progress bars, charts, recent-cards tables — live to the board. The dashboard updates as the board changes, so reporting never means exporting to a spreadsheet.
Tips
- One board per process. A pipeline, a calendar, and an inventory are three boards, not three groups on one.
- Use group order to mirror the real flow (stages left to right or top to bottom) so dragging a row forward means what it looks like.
- Reach for bulk actions during weekly cleanups — restatusing a stale batch takes seconds.
FAQ
How is a Table Board different from a spreadsheet? Columns have real types. That's what makes grouping, bulk actions, and live dashboard wiring work — a spreadsheet holds text that merely looks like data.
When should I use a Table Board instead of Kanban? Use Kanban when work flows through stages as cards, especially agile software work with sprints. Use a Table Board when you want rows and columns: pipelines, calendars, inventories, lists. A space can hold both.
Do I have to build boards from scratch? No. Pick one of the roughly 78 templates and the groups, columns, and sample rows are set up for you.
Can I report on board data? Yes — wire a Dashboard room's widgets live to the board. See the Dashboard room documentation.
