Finding your way around
Where signing in lands you, what the sidebar holds on an organization's pages and inside a workspace, the two switchers, the top bar, and the keys that get you anywhere.
Openbook's layout is the same as MadeBook's and CodeBook's: a sidebar with a workspace switcher at the top and an organization switcher at the bottom, and a top bar with search and your account. Once those two switchers make sense, the rest follows.
What changed in September 2026. Spaces are called workspaces now. The page that listed every workspace across all your organizations is gone; each organization has its own Workspaces page, and signing in lands on Organizations. The organization's members, chat, files, storage and AI moved to its page at your Bookbag account. Old links to
/spaceland on Organizations.
Where you land
Signing in lands you on Organizations: a card for each organization you belong to, with your role in it. Manage opens the organization's pages. If you do not belong to any organization yet, you are taken to Create Your Organization instead.
The workspace switcher, at the top
The top of the sidebar always says where you are:
- Inside a workspace it shows the workspace's name, with Workspace underneath.
- Anywhere else it reads All workspaces, with Nothing open underneath — or Pick an organization when no organization is chosen yet. The workspace you last visited is not shown as if it were still open.
Open it and you get the organization's workspaces, with a check beside the open one. When the list spans more than one organization, each workspace's organization is written under its name, because two workspaces can share a name. At the bottom:
- All workspaces — the organization's Workspaces page, or Organizations when no organization is chosen.
- Create a workspace — the dialog described in Create your workspace.
Inside a workspace, workspace owners and admins also get a round + just under the switcher. It creates a new sidebar section for grouping rooms.
The sidebar on an organization's pages
On an organization's own pages the sidebar holds one group, OpenBook:

There is no Organization group any more. The organization itself is managed at your Bookbag account — see Organization pages & settings.
The sidebar inside a workspace
Inside a workspace the workspace's own groups come first; there is no product group above them.
- Workspace — Home, People, My Tasks, Agent activity, Agents and Settings.
- Pinned — rooms you pinned, when you have any.
- Your sections — the rooms, in the collapsible sections your workspace's admins arranged, with Unsectioned for the rest. Hover a section and its + adds a room to it. Hover a room to pin, mute or archive it.

The organization switcher, at the bottom
The bottom of the sidebar is the organization: its name, with Organization underneath. On the organization's pages it also carries a thin storage meter — the owner's storage allowance, explained in Storage and files.
Open it for your organizations, each with your role, then All organizations and New organization. Picking one switches to it.

The top bar
From left to right:
- The sidebar toggle, then Openbook by Bookbag — the product you are in.
- Search… with ⌘K — see below. On a phone it is a magnifying glass on the right.
- The notification bell — see Notifications.
- The theme toggle, light or dark. It is an account preference, so it follows you into the other products.
- Help, for the in-app tutorials.
- The Bookbag app launcher — the grid that takes you to the other Bookbag products, in the same organization.
- Your account menu — your name and email; Your Bookbag account (profile, picture and devices, at the account service); AI Settings (your own API keys); Help & tutorials; Keyboard Shortcuts; Platform admin for platform administrators; Sign out; and at the foot, the AI tokens this month meter — see AI usage & the token allowance.
The blue chat bubble in the bottom-right corner is the organization's chat, shared with every Bookbag product — see Organization chat.
⌘K and the keyboard
⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) opens one box that jumps you to rooms, cards, workspaces and help, and — inside a workspace — searches the text of your work. Each result says where it lives: a room's type and workspace, a card's column, room and workspace. See Search & navigation.
